Bibliography

My research focused on the earliest available source material and to be candid, I found very few published accounts to be of any use unless they were based on original archives.  Even the books written by primary witnesses are at best, edited versions of their original diaries published several years after the events concerned.  It may seem obvious, but any second hand account which uses the published versions without reference to the original documents is bound to be less reliable.

This bibliography is relatively short and limited to real eye witness testimony, but a great many books, articles and theses available of varying usefulness have been published in the last 130 years.  I am happy to supply a list to anybody interested.  There are also a number of scientific papers relating to the collections made by early explorers that I found fascinating.
